Have dream dances without kidnapping the best leader in the room or becoming an advanced dancer before having any fun!
All partner dances spring from the same language… the language of Lead and Follow. This is the ultimate framework that makes all partner dances work. To organize two moving dancers in a way that they are completely in sync with one another can only be accomplished by one person leading and one person following.
The roles of lead and follow don’t have to be fixed and more and more people “switch” roles in the middle of a dance if both partners are into it.
Traditional partner dances have a set of steps and rhythms. For example, the Salsa basic step is commonly known by amateur dancers because it’s easy, consistent and both partners can do it in sync pretty easily. The problem with learning steps first comes when you want to start improvising and your partner has no idea what’s happening unless they know the move you’re about to do. This can be avoided by teaching the framework sequence correctly.
1st - learn the framework of lead and follow. Now you can lead or follow anything you’re inspired to and your partner is right there with you, even if they have no clue what’s about to happen.
Improvisation = FUN!
2nd - start to become comfortable with your personal dance. Find your dance style and don’t be afraid to try out new things! Build your confidence in your movements and find enjoyment in the simplest moves! Enjoying your dance will 100% make you look better, too!
Throughout the years I’ve learned that the FEELING of confidence in your body is the key to becoming and looking like a good dancer! Most beginner dancers fear they look clumsy, not graceful, and uncoordinated.
I’m sure you’ve had those moments where you compare yourself to “her or him”, which leaves you with a painful knot in your gut, afraid you’ll never “get there” or god-forbid, you’re not good enough… to this I say:
Tell that inner critic to shut it, cause you have what it takes to look and feel amazing on the dancefloor and I’ll help you find it!!
The secret is this: Build a relationship with your personal dance.
Most major concepts in partner dancing are YOUR responsibility, not your partner’s 🤐 Keeping your own balance is up to you. How you interpret the music is up to you. How you interpret your partner’s lead is up to you.
If we’re dancing with a partner, shouldn’t we enjoy dancing by ourselves first and foremost?... I’m just gonna point out that this is a beautiful metaphor for relationships in general, isn’t it?!
Don’t get me wrong - of course you’re gonna dance with other people! It’s Partner Dance! BUT, don’t let “your partner” or “lack of one” hold you back from becoming a beautiful partner dancer! When you feel comfortable-heck when you LOVE your personal movements and you’re confident in them, you’ll find that it doesn’t matter who you’re dancing with, you’ll feel and look amazing!
I’ve created a framework that teaches you:
⭐️ how to connect deeply with your dance partner AND yourself, so every dance you enter has a strong foundation to build on,
⭐️ a variety of footwork you can use to dance to any music you enjoy,
⭐️ and how to gain bombshell dance confidence in the process, so you can be your best, most fun and shiniest self out there!
